They managed to win the game on the penultimate delivery of the match by capping off an excellent chase.

Can the Perth Scorchers repeat this result against a very strong Sydney Thunder side or will it be too much to ask?
There were plenty of runs scored in the first match between these two and a lot of big hits. We think the second match between these in the WBBL this season should be very close as well.
PERTH SCORCHERS WOMEN
The Perth Scorchers knew they were going to have to be at their best game in order to compete with Sydney Thunder and that is exactly what they did. Their big players, Villani and Lanning, led the chase from the front and ensured that the Scorchers never fell too far behind in a big chase.
The Scorchers also do not have the depth that teams like Sydney Sixers or Sydney Thunder have and that is why one person batting through to the end of the chase was so important. Villani did that and stayed not out on 66 for her efforts.
Lanning’s 76 off 40 balls was her second successive fifty in the WBBL and signals some excellent things to come for the Perth Scorchers.
To win against Sydney Thunder again, it appears that these two players will have to the bulk of the heavy lifting. Meg Lanning is in the kind of form where she can be unstoppable and that is exactly what we recommend betting on.
Her rivalry with Ellyse Perry, who has been having an unbelievable WBBL herself, should also act as another motivator.
The Perth Scorchers would be concerned at the ease with which the Sydney Thunder women got their runs. Three out of their top-4 got runs and none of the bowlers seemed good enough to stop them. Cleary was one of the only bowlers that were able to have some effect on the proceedings as she bowled he quota of overs for 28 runs and picked up two wickets as well.

SYDNEY THUNDER WOMEN
After a run of impressive victories, Sydney Thunder lost a close match against the Perth Scorchers but would not be overly concerned. They are still in second place in the WBBL standings and pretty well placed to make it to the playoffs.
They also played a pretty good match against the Scorchers but were undone by some brilliant batting from Meg Lanning. There are times when you have to accept that a player got the better of you and that’s just what Lanning did to the Thunder women.
Haynes, Priest, and Kaur continued their excellent form in the WBBL. Harmanpreet Kaur smashed four sixes in her inning again and showed just why she is considered to be the most dangerous batter in this side. Her ability hit sixes makes her pretty rare in the Women’s Big Bash League.
We can’t understand, though, why Sydney Thunder continues to push Taylor down the order even when she is in such good form. She faced just 17 balls in the last match and made 24 but could have been much more dangerous up the order.
We think she needs to replace Stalenburg in the batting order and swap places with her.
Irrespective, Sydney Thunder has a very strong batting lineup with more players to depend on than the Perth Scorchers.
The bowling let Sydney Thunder down a bit and none of the six bowlers used was able to stop Lanning and Villani from running riot. Bates got away with just 22 runs off her four overs but most other bowlers suffered.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS
The WBBL match between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder is going to be played at Lilac Hill Park, Perth. The home side gets the advantage of playing back to back matches at home but that is how the WBBL is scheduled.
The pitch for the first match was excellent for batting with some nice bounce and carry. The same is expected for this upcoming match. The small boundaries and strong batting lineups ensure that another high scoring match is highly likely.
We think the Perth Scorchers are dangerous at the moment because of Meg Lanning’s form but that Sydney Thunder is the better side overall. They have more players that can step up and make the difference.
Back Sydney Thunder to win.
