ABOUT THE MATCH
A short turnaround for the Brisbane heat women sees them taking on the Melbourne Renegades women next.
The Melbourne Renegades women have won five out of their ten matches, including on rained out fixture, and are just one win away from the fourth-placed team right now. The Renegades are absolutely in with a shot of making the playoffs if they can get some winning momentum in the next few matches.
BRISBANE HEAT WOMEN
Grace Harris led the Brisbane Heat women from the front once again as she smashed 47 off 37 deliveries with six fours and one six. She did not have too much support from the top order in the last match. Mooney was out early, Johnson and Short got a start but could not capitalize, and it was eventually down to Dooley to step up.
For the second match running Dooley an important contribution and ensured that Brisbane Heat ended up with an excellent total on the board. She is also adding to an already strong Brisbane Heat batting order which just continues to get deeper.
One or the other top order player seems to perform for Brisbane Heat women on most occasions. It was Grace Harris in the last match but Mooney, Johnson, and Short have also been scoring heavily in this edition of the WBBL.
This is what makes the Brisbane Heat women so dangerous. Of course, no other batter has the explosive power that Grace Harris seems to command and so the score always ends up being higher when she gets going.
The bowling attack for Brisbane Heat women did a good job in containing the Adelaide Strikers women. Kimmince got the important wickets of Devine and Bates after which the victory was a mere formality. If she and the other bowlers get a similar total to defend against the Melbourne Renegades then we think Brisbane Heat should end up winning easily once more.
MELBOURNE RENEGADES WOMEN
The Melbourne Renegades women won against the hapless Hobart Hurricanes women and kept themselves in the running for a WBBL playoff spot. They are in fifth place at the moment in the WBBL League standings but a couple of wins could see them shoot up the ladder.
Molineux put in an absolutely stunning performance for the Melbourne Renegades women in the last match. She bowled her full quota of four overs for 22 runs and took two wickets. She then came out to open the inning where she smashed 20 runs of just 6 deliveries!
It was enough to pretty much break a small chase open and allowed the batter that followed to take their time.
With Wyatt and Satterthwaite in some pretty decent touch as well, the Melbourne Renegades would be hoping to put in some good batting performances in their upcoming matches.
Danny Wyatt is very important for the Melbourne Renegades women. She is not a typical T20 player in that she likes to take her time and rarely ever hits a six. She is, however, very consistent and can be relied on to perform in pressure situations. Her extensive international experience makes her a leader within the Melbourne Renegades women set up as well.
The win in the last match was largely due to a good bowling performance from the Melbourne Renegades. Tahuhu and Molineux took two wickets each while Strano, Wareham, and Brown were pretty frugal with the runs too.
This is an in-form bowling attack that is going to be up against a strong batting side. The outcome of this duel could determine the winner.
The side winning the toss is likely to want to field first
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
The WBBL match between the Brisbane Heat women and the Melbourne Renegades women is going to be played at Harrup Park, Mackay. The pitch at Mackay is expected to be good for batting and should allow both sides to get plenty of runs.
The weather forecast is not the best, though, and some rain is expected to hover around for most of the day.
Brisbane Heat women have shown themselves to be a formidable side this WBBL and we think they have the talent to continue winning. They are a stronger batting side than the Renegades with a bowling attack that is pretty similar.
Back the Melbourne Renegades to win.
