Rajputs Team News & Playing 11
RJP Team News
Rajputs made two changes after their crushing defeat to Maratha Arabians as Munaf Patel returned in place of Oshane Thomas and Peter Trego made his first appearance, replacing Karim Janat – who himself had only played his first game in the previous match.
Trego only faced one ball, scoring a single from it, and it would seem harsh to replace him so soon – particularly after the form he showed in Nepal’s Pokhara Premier League earlier this month. That said, Janat was one of the stand-out players in last month’s Afghanistan Premier League and could return in place of countryman Sayed Shirzad.
Laurie Evans has missed the last three games through injury.
RJP Key Players
Mohammad Shahzad started the tournament in stunning form, blasting an unbeaten 74 from 16 balls as Rajputs needed just four overs to chase 95 to beat Sindhis by ten wickets. His form has not matched that since but at his explosive best he can be unstoppable.
Brendon McCullum is the other batsman to hit a half-century for Rajputs so far – he scored 58 from 29 balls in a defeat to Pakhtoons and top-scored last time out with 28 from 15 balls too.
Laurie Evans was a star of the Afghanistan Premier League and, if he can get fit again, he will look to add to the 65 runs he scored in two unbeaten innings at the start of the tournament.
With the ball, Munaf Patel leads the way with five wickets in four games, while Tymal Mills and Carlos Brathwaite have three each. Mills claimed 2-19 in the win against Punjabi Legends las time out but the West Indian was man of the match after scoring 23 from nine balls before claiming 1-18 from his two overs.

RJP Team Form
Rajputs made a stunning start to the 2018 T10 league but they could not back it up. After Munaf Patel’s 3-20 helped restrict Sindhis to 94/6, Mohammad Shazad’s blistering 74 from 16 balls ensured Rajputs needed just four overs to chase it down.
Brendon McCullum’s 58 from 29 balls powered them to 121/3 in their next match against Pakhtoons, but they lost by nine wickets with two balls to spare and their third game was curtailed by rain after they reached 94/5 from their first nine overs – Laurie Evans unbeaten on 38 from 19 balls. In the second phase, they started terribly – posting just 63/7 from their ten overs against Maratha Arabians and losing by ten wickets with five overs to spare – but they bounced back against Punjabi Legends. Carlos Brathwaite contributed with bat and ball as Rajputs poted 117/5 and restricted their opponents to 105/6.
Rajputs Predicted Playing 11
- Rilee Rossouw, Mohammad Shahzad, Ben Dunk, Brendon McCullum, Carlos Brathwaite, Peter Trego, Karim Janat, Munaf Patel, Tymal Mills, Qais Ahmad, Rohan Mustafa.
Northern Warriors Team News & Playing 11
NW Team News
Harry Gurney was replaced by Kennar Lewis in the last game – the uncapped West Indian making his first appearance of the tournament as Northern Warriors opted for an extra batsman again. Gurney had only replaced Amitoze Singh for the previous game when the Warriors leant the other way with the team balance. Without Gurney, Ravi Bopara will bowl for definite but after he was expensive it may be that Gurney is back to face Rajputs.
NW Key Players
Nicolas Pooran top scored once again when he hit an unbeaten 43 from 18 balls in the most recent game. He has been the Northern Warriors’ top batsman for the last four consecutive games – scoring 14, 77, 62, 17 and 43* in the five matches they have played.
Lendl Simmons top scored the first game, meanwhile and has 122 runs from five matches so far, and fellow West Indian Andre Russell has been in explosive batting form once again. His 29* in the last match included four sixes – he has 13 in the tournament without yet hitting a four.
Russell also claimed 1-13 from two overs with the ball in the last match, while Hardus Viljoen continued his fine bowling form – he now has eight wickets in the tournament after claiming 1-19 against Kerala Knights, with a great economy rate too.
Chris Green’s spin-bowling may not be producing many wickets but he has also kept things relatively tight so far.
NW Team Form
Since a heavy defeat in their first match – despite 1-8 from two overs from Hardus Viljoen and Lendl Simmons’ 28-ball 44 – against Bengal Tigers, Northern Warriors have won four from four.
A stunning 183/2 from ten overs against Punjabi Legends – anchored by 77 from 25 balls by Pooran – helped them to a 99-run win after Ravi Bopara claimed 4-15 from two overs.
Another Pooran half-century (62 from 24 balls) eased the Warriors to an eight-wicket win chasing 95 to beat Maratha Arabians – Viljoen having impressed with the ball – and the two men starred again in the first match of the second phase; Viljoen took 2-15 as Sindhis posted 91/6 and Pooran top scored in the reply, with the Warriors winning by one wicket off the final ball.It was less dramatic last time out as they chased 102 to beat Kerala Knights – Pooran hitting an unbeaten 43 from 18 balls before Russell hit four sixes in an unbeaten ten-ball 29 as they eased to an eight-wicket win.
Northern Warriors Predicted Playing 11
- Lendl Simmons, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, Ravi Bopara, Darren Sammy, Chris Green, Wahab Riaz, Hardus Viljoen, Imran Haider, Harry Gurney
