Central Districts Team News & Playing 11

The Stags’ top-order batting is looking good in Super Smash 2018-19 season with Tom Bruce, Will Young and Dean Foxcroft all amongst the runs. Bruce is leading the runs charts with 287 runs. The skipper smashed an unbeaten 88 in the reverse fixture and is coming off a brilliant 30-ball 71 against Canterbury Kings. Young and Foxcroft scored 89 not-out and 50 respectively in that game and they too hold the key for Central Stags. Blair Tickner, Ben Wheeler and Seth Rance have been very impressive with the ball and it will be mainly up to these three pace bowlers to push the Knights on the back foot early in the innings. Tickner has been the team’s best bowler with ten wickets in six matches followed by Wheeler who has eight. The former took a three-wicket haul last time against the Knights and he is likely to trouble them again.

Central Districts Predicted Playing 11

Northern Knights Team News & Playing 11

Daryl Mitchell, Dean Brownlie, Tim Seifert and Nicholas Frederick Kelly form the backbone of the Knights’ batting. Mitchell is one of the season’s leading run-getters and the team will be expecting a strong performance from him against the Stags. Seifert hit a fifty in the reverse encounter while Kelly cracked his first fifty of the season in the last match against Canterbury Kings. Corey Anderson is a dangerous batsman in the middle order and he is a handy option with the ball as well. The Knights’ bowling, however, will be a lot more dependent on Scott Kuggeleijn and Kyle Abbott, especially during the absence of Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner who are currently playing for New Zealand in the ODI series against India. Kuggeleijn has taken the most wickets for the Knights – ten in six matches – and he will pose the biggest challenge for the Central Stags.

Northern Knights Predicted Playing 11

  • Nicholas Frederick Kelly, Tim Seifert (wk), Dean Brownlie (c), Daryl Mitchell, Corey Anderson, Brett Hampton, Daniel Flynn, Scott Kuggeleijn, Kyle Abbott, Neil Wagner, Tarun Nethula

CD vs NK Head to Head

Central Stags and Knights have played 24 matches against each other in the New Zealand domestic twenty20 tournaments. The former have won 10 of those and the latter 13 with one not producing a result.

Both teams have won twice each in their last four meetings. The Knights won two out of the three matches that they played against the Stags in the previous season.

Central Stags, however, registered a five-wicket win when they met the Knights last month in the fourth match of the ongoing Super Smash season at the Bay Oval. The Knights scored 156/8 in their 20 overs after being put into bat first and the Stags then chased their target with four balls to spare.

Central Districts vs Northern Knights Betting Odds

Betway has the Knights as favorites to win this Super Smash match at odds of 1.75 and Central Stags as the underdogs at 1.95. Bet365 and Betfair, however, are offering odds of 1.90 on both the teams to win this match.

Central Districts vs Northern Knights Prediction

The Knights are on a roll having secured wins in each of their previous five matches. The defending champions are currently leading the league standings with six wins and just the one loss from seven games. Interestingly, their only defeat this season has come against the Central Stags who themselves are playing a good brand of cricket. The Stags are placed second on the points table with four wins and two losses from seven matches and they too have the momentum with them with wins in their last three games. The Knights will be without their two frontline bowlers in Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner who are both away on international duty, and this will definitely weaken their bowling attack. The Stags, on the other hand, are playing at home and having won both their matches at this ground will surely boost their confidence. The Stags seem to have the upper hand here and we expect them to complete the double over the Knights.
