Sylhet Sixers Team News & Playing 11
Sylhet Team News
Sylhet Sixers were unchanged last time out and could field the same team again for the match against Rajshahi Kings. That would mean Alok Kapali captaining the overseas quartet of Jason Roy (David Warner’s replacement), Nicolas Pooran, Mohammad Nawaz and Sohail Tanvir, with Ebadat Hossain and Nabil Samad continuing in the bowling attack.
Sylhet Key Players
When these teams last met, Jason Roy continued the form he had showed in the T10 League and on England’s tour of Sri Lanka, by scoring 42 from 28 balls in his first game of BPL 2019 season – having flown in as David Warner’s replacement.
He fell short last time out, but Afif Hossain scored 49 and Sabbir Rahman 44 not out to lift the Sixers to a big total. The latter was supported by Mohammad Nawaz’s unbeaten 39, and he has now scored 54, 11 and 39* in his three innings, as well as taking six wickets in three games.
Nicolas Pooran is the top run scorer, meanwhile. He passed 300 runs last time out – the third player to do so in this year’s competition. He has 303 runs from his ten innings, and has hit two half-centuries. His tally of 22 sixes was the highest in the competition at the time too.
Taskin Ahmed took two wickets in just seven balls against Khulna Titans, meanwhile. It took him to 20 wickets for the tournament – at the top of the wicket-taking charts – having taken two four-wicket hauls.
Alok Kapali, who took 2-15 last time these teams met, has 11 so far in the tournament, while Sohail Tanvir has hit top form too – he took 3-17 when these teams last faced each other and followed that up with 1-16 from three overs against Khulna Titans.
Sylhet Team Form
Sylhet Sixers are bidding for a third consecutive win, having lost the previous three matches in a row.
They played just once in the third phase of fixtures – losing to Khulna Titans despite a half-century from Mohammad Nawaz and Alok Kapali’s excellent 4-22 from four overs. The Sixers finished on 149/7 in reply to 170/9.
The fourth phase of fixtures has seen them bounce right back into form, however, starting with the previous game against Rajshahi Kings. Jason Roy top-scored with 42 from 28 balls in a total of 180/6, and Sohail Tanvir and Nawaz both claimed three wickets to help bowling the Kings out for 104.
Last time out, in the re-match against the Titans, Afif Hossain’s 49 from 37 balls and some late hitting from Sabbir Rahman and Nawaz lifted the Sixers to 195/4, and Nabil Samad led the bowling with 3-20 as the Titans were bowled out for just 137.
Sylhet Sixers Predicted Playing 11
- Liton Das, Jason Roy, Sabbir Rahman, Afif Hossain, Nicolas Pooran, Alok Kapali, Mohammad Nawaz, Sohail Tanvir, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadat Hossain, Nabil Samad
Rajshahi Kings Team News & Playing 11
Rajshahi Team News
Rajshahi Kings come into this game after facing Rangpur Riders, having previously bounced back from their defeat to the Sixers with two changes. Johnson Charles started in place of Seekkuge Prasanna, while Zakir Hasan made way for Soumya Sarkar. Those changes paid off, and it could be a similar team that therefore takes on the Sixers. Qais Ahmad replaced Ryan ten Doeschate against Rangpur, but the Dutchman offers better batting balance and could return.
Rajshahi Key Players
Laurie Evans’ maiden T20 century has seen the big-hitting Englishman re-establish himself as a key batsman for the Kings. He has now passed 200 runs for the tournament after a poor start.
Ryan ten Doeschate can consider himself unfortunate to have been dropped last time out, meanwhile. He had hit form with scores of 59*, 28 and 27 in his last three innings to move to 169 for the tournament.
Johnson Charles proved his worth in his first start with 55 at the top of the order, meanwhile – adding strength to the Kings’ batting line-up.
With the ball, Arafat Sunny leads the way – he took his 14th of the tournament in the win against Chittagong Vikings. Mustafizur Rahman took 3-25 in that game to also pass double figures, while Kamrul Islam Rabbi also took his tenth of the tournament.
Rajshahi Team Form
Rajshahi Kings’ 104 all out when these teams last met added to their list of poor batting scores – they had also been dismissed for 106, 124 and 103 in previous games and even when winning had been forced to defend low scores – 135/8 against Rangpur Riders and 136/6 against Dhaka Dynamites.
Laurie Evans led a batting resurgence after the latter, scoring 104* while Ryan ten Doeschate hit 59* in a total of 176/3 against Comilla Victorians. Kamrul Islam Rabbi took 4-10 as the Kings won by 38 runs.
Evans then hit 71 from 56 balls against Chittagong Vikings, only for them to lose by six wickets defending 157/5, and the defeat to the Sixers inflicted further woe on a below-par season.
They bounced back next up, however, led by Johnson Charles’ half-century and some big-hitting from Ryan ten Doeschate (27) and Christiaan Jonker (37). The total of 198/5 proved seven runs too much for Chittagong Vikings as Mustafizur Rahman took 3-28 to restrict them to 191/8. They only managed five runs and lost two wickets off Mustafizur’s final over.
Rajshahi Kings Predicted Playing 11
- Laurie Evans, Johnson Charles, Soumya Sarkar, Fazle Mahmud, Ryan ten Doeschate, Christiaan Jonker, Mominul Haque, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Arafat Sunny
SYL vs RK Head to Head
Sylhet Sixers thrashed Rajshahi Kings at the start of the fourth phase of fixtures and so have now won two of their three previous meetings. In 2017, a 101-opening partnership helped them to 205/6 against the Kings, who could only score 172/8 in reply, but Rajshahi bounced back by chasing 146/6 to win by seven wickets with 2.3 overs to spare in the second game.
This season, Jason Roy top-scored for the Sixers with 42 from 28 balls in a total of 180/6. In reply, Fazle Mahmud scored 50 but Sohail Tanvir (3-17), Mohammad Nawaz (3-22), Alok Kapali (2-15) and Taskin Ahmed (2-20) shared the wickets as the Kings were all out for 104.
Sylhet Sixers vs Rajshahi Kings Prediction
Sylhet Sixers belatedly found some form in this Chittagong phase of fixtures and can make it three wins from three with a win against inconsistent Rajshahi Kings.
