Khulna Titans Team News & Playing 11
KT Team News
South African all-rounder David Wiese replaced Carlos Brathwaite as one of the four overseas players for the match against Dhaka Dynamites last time out. After claiming two wickets and bowling economically, he will surely retain his place for this game too. Shoriful Islam was expensive and wicketless, and his place could be in danger, though the extent of Ali Khan’s injury remains to be seen after he did not bat against Dhaka. That would open up an overseas slot if the American bowler misses out, meaning a possible return for Brathwaite or a first start for Dawid Malan.
KT Key Players
Irishman Paul Stirling has been the stand-out performer for Khulna Titans so far in Bangladesh Premier League 2018, hitting 61 from 46 balls in the first match at the top of the order and then claiming two wickets in an over – Hazratullah Zazai and Shakib Al Hasan in the second game.
Opening partner Junaid Siddique scored 33 from 30 in the first game and, after Stirling fell cheaply against Dhaka, he hit 31 from 16 balls last time out.
Runs in the middle order have been lacking, however – Mahmudullah arrived in decent form off the back of Bangladesh’s series with West Indies, however, and the captain remains a threat with bat and ball.
South African David Wiese impressed after coming into the team for the game against Dhaka, meanwhile. As his team-mates took some punishment from the Dynamites’ batsmen, Wiese claimed 2-24 from his four overs, having also taken wickets throughout the Mzansa Super League.
KT Team Form
Khulna Titans have lost both matches they have played so far. Paul Stirling scored 61 from 46 balls at the top of the order against Rangpur Riders, but the Titans finished eight runs short of Rangpur’s 169/3 in their opening game.
Against Dhaka, meanwhile, the Titans bowlers – Paul Stirling (2-2 from one over) and David Wiese (2-24 from four overs) excepted – took some punishment in a total of 192/6 for the Dynamites, before they were dismissed for just 87 from 13 overs in reply.
Khulna Titans Predicted Playing 11
- Paul Stirling, Junaid Siddique, Dawid Malan, Jahurul Islam, Mahmudullah, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Ariful Haque, David Wiese, Taijul Islam, Subashis Roy, Zahir Khan
Rajshahi Kings Team News & Playing 11
RK Team News
After a heavy defeat to Dhaka Dynamites in their opening game, Rajshahi Kings might look to rotate their options ahead of their second game. Their overseas contingent for the opening game included Mohammad Hafeez, Laurie Evans, Christiaan Jonker and Qais Ahmad, meaning the likes of Ryan ten Doeschate and Isuru Udana are awaiting first appearances.
RK Key Players
Arafat Sunny claimed 2-23 from three overs and Mohammad Hafeez 1-15 from his three in an otherwise difficult opening game against Dhaka Dynamites. Hafeez also scored 29 with the bat – the top score, but far too slow (from 28 balls) given the nature of the chase. Sunny was second-top scorer with a run-a-ball 18.
While highlights were few, however, there are stars in the Rajshahi Kings ranks. One of those is Laurie Evans, who was top run scorer in the T20 Blast in England and then hammered three half-centuries in the Afghanistan Premier League. Afghanistan teenager Qais Ahmad – who excelled in his home country’s franchise T20 competition – is another potential star, having taken 1-29 from his four overs against Dhaka.
Mustafizur Rahman has good T20 pedigree, meanwhile – 98 wickets from 77 games, including five in the recent Bangladesh vs West Indies series.
RK Team Form
Rajshahi Kings have played just one game so far, and lost it heavily against Dhaka Dynamites. Bowling first, they conceded 189/5 from the 20 overs, despite combined figures of 3-38 from six overs for Mohammad Hafeez and Arafat Sunny.
The reply never got off the ground, as Hafeez top scored with 29 from 28 balls, and the Kings were bowled out for 106 from 18.2 overs.
Rajshahi Kings Predicted Playing 11
- Mohammad Hafeez, Mominul Haque, Laurie Evans, Soumya Sarkar, Ryan ten Doeschate, Zakir Hasan, Mehedi Hasan, Arafat Sunny, Qais Ahmad, Alauddin Babu, Mustafizur Rahman

KT vs RK Head to Head
Khulna Titans have won three of their five previous matches against Rajshahi Kings, including both matches in the 2017 competition. In the first of those, Mahmudullah hit a half-century as the Titans chased 167 to win by two wickets in the final over – Ariful Haque contributing a match-winning unbeaten 43 from 19 overs to lead them home.
Next up, Najmul Hossain Shanto (49 from 31 balls), Afif Hossain (54* from 38), Nicolas Pooran (57 from 26) and Carlos Brathwaite (34 from 14) were all on form with the bat as the Titans posted 213/5 from their 20 overs. Shafiul Islam took 5-26 in reply, and the Kings finished well short on 145 all out with an over remaining.
Khulna Titans vs Rajshahi Kings Prediction
Khulna Titans were thrashed by Dhaka Dynamites last time out, but there have been a few small signs of the form they showed in finishing third last season – they need to win against Rajshahi Kings to get back on track.
