BBL 2018-19 Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers 18th Match Prediction. The Melbourne Renegades will be taking on the defending champions of the Big Bash League, the Adelaide Strikers in this match. The Melbourne Renegades started BBL 08 well with two wins but have since then lost their next two matches. They have been hamstrung but some missing players but that is not an excuse they will want to hide behind.

BBL 2018-19 Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers 18th Match Prediction

The Adelaide Strikers are coming into the match after notching up a comfortable victory against Sydney Thunder in their previous match. The Adelaide Strikers are slowly but surely resembling the powerful team we had become so used to seeing last season.

This match is going to be played in Geelong as a part of the efforts of the BBL to spread the game to smaller centers across the country as well.

The Melbourne Renegades rejigged their batting order a little in their match against the Melbourne Stars but it did not pay too many dividends. Mohammad Nabi moved up to number 4, possibly to take on the Melbourne Stars spinners, and Tom Cooper moved down.

The big problem for the Renegades continued to be their poor opening pair of Harper and Harvey. They are missing Marcus Harris who is away on Australian national duty and should be available after the completion of the fourth test against India.

Harper, Harvey, and even White have not been able to give the Renegades any sort of consistent start. Mohammad Nabi has played one match winning inning already but number 4 seems to be a bit too high for him.

Dan Christian has been good for the Renegades in both the batting and bowling departments but he does not always have too much support left by the time he comes in to bat.

The Melbourne Renegades have a good batting side on paper but their players are not quite performing up to expectations. This is a problem going into a match against a strong bowling attack like the Adelaide Strikers.

The bowling has also been underwhelming for the Melbourne Renegades. Kane Richardson has been the best bowlers so far and wickets have come to Shinwari and Christian as well. None of the bowlers have been consistently able to keep the run scoring down.

Cameron Boyce has been good in patches as has Mohammad Nabi but more is required from both these players.

Melbourne Renegades Predicted Playing 11

  • Tom Cooper (C), Mohammad Nabi, Dan Christian, Will Sutherland, Cameron Boyce, Kane Richardson, Usman Shinwari, Tim Ludeman, Jack Wildermuth, Sam Harper and Cameron White.

The Adelaide Strikers played an excellent match against Sydney Thunder in their previous match. They scored an imposing total of 175 thanks to runs from Alex Carey and Colin Ingram. That total was always going to be enough for their superb bowling attack to defend and that is exactly what ended up happening.

The Adelaide Strikers will be very pleased that Colin Ingram finally scored some runs in the BBL. He hit 6 sixes in his inning and scored at an astonishing strike rate of 174.41.

His form against the spinners was very impressive as well and we think it bodes very well for the Adelaide Strikers moving ahead in the tournament.

Even last season, the Adelaide Strikers had two batsmen that were consistently scoring runs. Now that Travis Head is a part of the Australian team in all formats, this responsibility will have to be taken up by Carey and Ingram.

If Jake Weatherald, Matthew Short, or Jake Lehmann can also come into form then the Adelaide Strikers will be very hard to beat.

The Adelaide Strikers continued to put in excellent bowling performances. In their last match, they had Peter Siddle available along with the rest of the usual attack and he had an excellent game. His four overs cost just 20 runs and he took three wickets as well.

BBL 2018-19 Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers 18th Match Prediction

Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, Billy Stanlake, and Michael Neser are all excellent bowlers. Even if one of the bowlers has a poor day, there is enough depth in the bowling attack to be able to cover for him.

Adelaide Strikers Predicted Playing 11

  • nullnullColin Ingram (C), Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Matthew Short, Jon Wells, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Peter Siddle, Ben Laughlin and Billy Stanlake.

The team winning the toss is likely to field first

This BBL 08 match between the Melbourne Renegades and the Adelaide Strikers is going to be played at the Simonds Stadium, South Geelong, Victoria. The weather forecast for the match is quite good. We should have a nice sunny day without any interruptions on match day.

The pitch is a bit of mystery when matches are played on grounds where top-flight cricket is rarely held. We are likely to see a slow pitch where run scoring is going to be difficult.

A dicey pitch can make the contest a bit of a lottery since winning the toss becomes so important. Still, assuming the pitch is decent enough, the Adelaide Strikers go into this match as firm favorites. They have a good batting lineup which is striking form and one of the best bowling attacks in the entire tournament.

Back the Adelaide Strikers to win.
